Volunteer Opportunities

Volunteering is one of the most wonderful ways to support our community and help others, however, it can also be a valuable way to gain skills and recent work experience to getting a job. Volunteer Roles available with us include:

  • Reception and Admin Volunteer: General office work including reception, answering phones, supporting events, filing, organising catering.
  • Youth Space Volunteer: Support young people in their learning, with their projects in our Woodwork and Metalwork Workshop.
  • Responsible Driving Supervisor: Help young people get their 75 driving hours to get their P’s – Training with a Professional Driving Instructor is provided. We provide a specially modified car for you to use.
  • Youth Mentoring Volunteer: Support NDIS young people in their learning, with their projects in Woodwork, Metalwork, Welding, Technology/3D Printing and Gardening/Horticulture.

Youth Space Volunteer – Smiler has been with us for over 4 years. Smiler supports young people’s hands-on learning in our woodwork and metal work workshop in Youth Space as well as supporting learning in Rule the Tools Program.

Reception and Admin Volunteer – Naomi volunteered with us for about 5 weeks and as a result of her work ethic, customer service skills and her ability to quickly learn admin task we now employ Naomi for 4 days per week.

Student Placement Opportunities

Our Youth Space and Flexible Learning Options (FLO) section provide student placement opportunities in the following areas:

  • Youth Work: Cert IV & Diploma
  • Social Sciences: Bachelor Degrees and Masters
  • Social Work: Bachelor Degrees and Masters
  • Community Services: Cert IV and Diploma

Student Placement Volunteer – Lenet is undertaking 500 hours of placement as part of her Master of Social Work with Youth Space. Lenet enjoyes working with young people from challenging backgrounds living with a disability. She has learned how to build rapport and help them on their learning journey and deal with the issues in their life.

IT Intern – JJ works with a range of technology and sets up laptops and computers for our staff and clients including installing and updating software, providing on-the-job training and responding to IT issues.
Accounting and Finance Intern – Chen undertakes accounts receivable and payable duties, payroll, visa card reconciliations and assists with organisations finances including budgeting.
